New Inventions
Some of the devices which have been invented lately, would have seemed impossible a few years ago. One device is made from the simplest materials possible. It uses sea salt and a piece of material to accomplish its mission. It was invented in Singapore in the National University. It is capable of generating electricity from moisture in the air using the two ingredients I just mentioned, with a gel and carbon ink. It is hoped this will boost self-powered wearable devices. Apparently, this is now one of the favorite areas of study for scientists. Look for a lot of people buying devices that will be able to charge themselves using this system.
I think I can safely say most of us have heard of the idea of delivering packages by drone. Amazon has talked about this several times. There is also another type of drone which was invented, but its purpose is different. While it is a delivery drone, what makes it different is what it delivers, which is blood and tissue to hospitals. It can also be adapted to deliver needed medicines and such. While the Amazon drone delivery system has not gotten the greatest reception, the medical delivery system has gotten high praise.
Virtual reality is reaching new heights not only in games, but more importantly in medicine. Doctors were able to design a perfect virtual heart which can be used to try out new procedures on and find out about the results. It can also be used to practice on it before trying anything on a patient. The software heart could be responsible for saving many lives in the future.
A new method for not only treating type 1 diabetes has been invented but so far it has cured diabetes in animal tests and the inventor claims it will do the same for humans. This is accomplished by stem cell implants. Let’s hope this becomes popular and works as stated.
A recent invention is aimed at saving the trees. It is a paper which can be reprinted on. The paper has a pollen content which allows for the reprinting. I have to wonder if it will have any effect on people with hay fever?
Everything is becoming smart. We now have smart phones which replaced our old stupid ones, I guess. One of the last things you would have expected to become smart is a buckle, but low and behold we now have one and it can replace the buckle on a lot of things. It you still wear an analog watch you can get a smart buckle for it which will alert you about different things such as the calls you are receiving, messages and such. What’s next, smart zippers? I have an idea, how about a smart zipper for the back of a woman’s dress which can be controlled with a remote.
Apple has invented a smart water bottle which tracks your daily water intake and it connects to Apple Health. LEDs on the bottom of the bottle send signals to Apple Health every time you take a drink.
Do you get tired of the way your sneakers look? Maybe you would like a pair of smart sneakers. ShiftWear, makes sneakers capable of changing colors. They are equipped with flexible color E Ink. You can use the mobile app. Easy peasy.
Lately, more small aircraft have been using parachutes for emergency landings where the entire plane is lowered. Now a removable body on a large passenger jet has been invented which can parachute down to earth saving the passengers from destruction in an emergency. This seems like a great idea.
A new type of hearing aid has been developed that uses artificial intelligence not only to help people hear better by filtering out the background noise, but saves on battery use, allowing the hearing aids to go far longer between battery changes. The hearing aid connects to other accessories using Bluetooth.
I have been seeing a lot of levitating devices lately. One was a globe of the world which levitates a couple of inches over a stand. Magnetism is used. In Sweden, an inventor has developed a light bulb which levitates the same way over a magnetic stand but lights while floating. While this might not have much of a practical use, it certainly is an odd sight.
One invention is the OrCam MyMe, a small digital device which also contains a camera. It takes photos of faces so you know who you are talking to. No more embarrassing moments when you forget someone’s name. It also keeps track of how your time is allocated. You can attach it to your shirt pocket or to your jacket.
One of the simplest and cheapest new inventions is the SiB. It is just a cube with a button in the middle, but you can give this button incredible power. You can connect it via Bluetooth to many different devices and have it perform many different tasks when pressed.
One invention, if it can be called that, is space tourism. We have just entered the phase of this kind of tourism, but as time goes by it will get cheaper and thus be available to more people who will be able to go more places that just into orbit for a while on or up to the space station. Look for space tourism destinations to follow behind the accomplishments of astronauts going to other planets and moons in the solar system.
An alarm clock has been invented which not only replaces the loud alarm with a soothing tune, but also releases the smell of your choice. Do you like the smell of fresh cut grass, coffee or other smells, they are yours for the choosing.
One of the inventions I saw which I liked very much was not electronic. It was a couch which could be transformed into two bunk beds, one on top of the other. It seemed impossible to me, but once you see it, you will be impressed. It was pricey however, costing in the area of $4,000.
Another simple invention which impressed me was a butter knife. Butter knife you say? Yes, I say it was impressive because it solved a problem everyone who has ever taken butter out of the refrigerator and tried to spread it on something soft will appreciate it. The knife has a blade which has a warmer in the blade that makes butter easy to spread and it is for sale for abut $20. I haven’t found anywhere that sells it yet.
There are a lot of new inventions coming out and sometimes the simplest are the most incredible.
