Where Has All the Money Gone? It would be interesting to know where all the money which the government has spent. Oh yes, they have had trillions disappear out of our budget and all sorts of things have been done apparently to hide this fact. I never paid too much attention to this until the disaster of September 11th. It first came to my attention when on September 10th Donald Rumsfeld made an announcement which stated trillions of dollars were unaccounted for in the defense budget. The next day the Pentagon was hit and the computers which had all the accounts on them were completely destroyed, or at least that is what we were told. From that point on I realized something was going on and it has continued to this day. Where did the money go, who has it and is there any left? These are very important questions, but many in government may feel it is too dangerous to pursue this trail. An article appeared in Forbes Magazine online. It started out by quoting the constitution and it is very relevant so I would like to also quote the constitution as to taking government money without accounting for it. “No Money shall be drawn from the Treasury, but in Consequence of Appropriations made by Law; and a regular Statement and Account of the Receipts and Expenditures of all public Money shall be published from time to time.” No matter what the money was used for even if it was for a worthy cause, laws were broken. Just because some people don’t agree with a law doesn’t give them the right to violate it. The misuse of money has been going on for a long time and we are not talking about pocket change. Let me give you an example. I already mentioned the trillions missing when the September 11, 1999 attack happened. In 2016 the Inspector General of the United States issued a report which stated the US Army didn’t account for 6.5 trillion dollars which was missing. Here is what I like to call the kicker. The US Army had a budget of 120 billion dollars in 2015 yet they had 6.5 trillion dollars missing. How can this be? Is the army being given trillions of dollars in secret? They must be or how could they have had it missing. This is all very mysterious. I don’t have all the facts, such as the fact of how the Inspector General knew the was another 6.5 trillion dollars to start with, but there must have been some indication of this in the balance sheets of the army or how would this have been known? The report had stated there were 170 transactions which added up to a missing amount of 2.1 trillion dollars, but there were also thousands of other transactions which the missing money was spent on. There are no receipts and these are called unsupported adjustments. One thing we seem to be very good at is making money disappear. Every time we are involved in a war, which is far too often, billions of dollars are said to disappear. The army’s accounting system is a disaster with all sorts of errors and unaccountable spending of money. The Forbes article claims since 1998 to 2015 21 trillion dollars has disappeared. Can you imagine how much it is today? Interesting enough is the fact the national debt is pegged at a little over 21 trillion dollars. Is this a coincidence? This shows me one thing, we really have no debt problems other than unthinkable amounts of money being stolen, misappropriated or God knows what. It also makes me think everything we are told about where our money goes is probably bogus. Forbes complained that the link to the government website which contained the report had been disconnected. Wow! To give you an example of how the politicians handle our money, pallets of cash were sent to Iraq. As the pallets were unloaded from trucks, the money was snatched up speedily by the war lords and such and almost instantly 12 billion dollars was gone. The pallets were loaded with $100-dollar bills which were shrink wrapped. I wish the government would send some here. The purpose was to help the new government of Iraq and it was claimed this was already Iraqi money from their bank accounts, but was it? Much of the money ended up in a bunker in Lebanon and we found this out but didn’t do anything about it. A friend of George W. Bush, Stuart W. Bowen Jr. was appointed to root out corruption in Iraq and he discovered the cave. The Fiscal Times reported in 2015 the United States lost 45 billion dollars in Afghanistan and had no idea what happened to it. This was taxpayer money. The Special Inspector General for Afghanistan reported there was no way to know what had happened to money we sent to Afghanistan before 2010 which went missing. By 2015 it was said 100 billion in aid had been completely squandered. The country became a black hole which money went into and disappeared. When one sees an amount like 21 trillion dollars disappearing they might think it could not all have been stolen and maybe the bulk of it was used on secret programs. There has been a lot of talk about a secret space programs which have been going on before the Apollo program and it is said we are already on the moon and Mars. If this is true it certainly would have cost trillions and it could be one way some of the money was used, but we Americans shouldn’t have to guess about these things. We are asked to pay taxes and most of us do. The people collecting these taxes also have an obligation to let us know where the money is going and not to hide under the umbrella of secrecy any time money is spent. It is time to stop blaming money shortages on old people using Medicare and Social Security and put the blame where it belongs, with the government.
