I usually don’t talk about politics very much, but there is so much going on right now it is hard to ignore the subject. I think many of us feel that neither candidate is fit to be president of the United States. Recently I saw a photo of Harrison Ford holding a sign which stated no one for president. It made me think about things. I wondered since things have been so bad for everybody which includes white, black, Latino, middle-class and others, do we really need a president? Maybe if we didn’t have a president both the two parties would have to agree on some things to get their bills passed. What has this president actually done for us? What has the one before him done? Apparently not very much. One has to only look at the condition of our roads, airports and even many of our hospitals to find out the answer to this question. Every president wants to be remembered as some sort of hero, but the truth is we haven’t had very many of them lately, heroes that is.

As far as Congress goes it has become an old age home for many who just keep getting elected even though they don’t accomplish very much for the common person. They have all sorts of lobbies behind them making sure they have the cash they need to continue to be elected, because they allow the lobbyists to get their way and even write some of the bills which are then passed. These are lobbyists, they are not elected officials and yet they are being allowed to write sweetheart bills which many times the Congressman don’t even read before voting for them. It is truly a disgrace what is going on in Congress. If ever term limits were needed in an institution, Congress is the place they are needed the most. After Congress the Supreme Court should also have term limits. Does it make any sense for people to be ruling on cases when some of them get so old we can’t even be sure they are not senile? There is certainly something wrong with that system too.

There is an old saying, it states if it ain’t broke don’t fix it. We have the opposite situation in government today, it is broke and we should fix it. Our presidential candidates are the laughingstock of the entire world. It is beginning to look like both of them should be in jail. It is embarrassing when a citizen of another country asks you how anyone can vote for either one of these two people. Yet this is nothing new, it is just worse. I remember when a man commented about a former president. He said the individual who became president was a member of the board of a company of which he was on. He said this individual used to come in to a board meeting, tell a dirty joke and then leave. He commented that this person was one of the stupidest people he ever met and couldn’t believe it when he became president. I’m not going to name this person, but I think you may be able to figure it out if you use your imagination.

Presidents have the power to write executive orders, these orders do not need the approval of Congress. All presidents do this and many believe these orders should be declared unconstitutional. Even George Washington signed executive orders, but many are complaining that Barack Obama took too much advantage of them. I am not a Barack Obama fan and am very disappointed in his presidency, but the truth is he signed only a couple of hundred executive orders while some presidents signed thousands. To give you an example of what I am talking about, Franklin D Roosevelt signed 3,721 executive orders, Woodrow Wilson signed 1,803, Calvin Coolidge signed 1,203 and Theodore Roosevelt signed 1,081. Perhaps it is time to take this power away from the president which would force parties to use give-and-take.

Getting back to the candidates, WikiLeaks has released so much damaging evidence against Hillary Clinton it amazes me she is still on her feet. I have to admit she is one of the most cunning people I have ever seen. She seems to have a storehouse of her own evidence against Trump which she strategically releases every time evidence against her comes out. She make sure her evidence is very salacious so it overshadows what WikiLeaks releases.

There is all sorts of talk on the Internet right now which refers to Clinton. Some of it is posted on Facebook and states Hillary Clinton is about to be arrested and prosecuted for the dealings of her foundation. Clinton reminds me of the proverbial duck who has the water going over his back. She has survived more investigations than anyone else I can think of in recent history. Ironically there are many saying Trump’s foundation is also being investigated for different reasons. I don’t believe either one of these people really knows what it is like for the middle class and I also don’t think they really care about minorities. Sure they say they do and tell us about all these great plans, but talk is cheap. Its actions that speak louder than words my friends and since Hillary has tied herself to Barack Obama we have to assume the policies towards the middle class and minorities will be approximately the same. As far as Trump goes he certainly doesn’t seem to be a fan of minorities. All one has to do is listen to his former statements figure this out.

2016 may go down as the worst election we have ever had and it wouldn’t surprise me if we have the lowest turnout of voters in modern times. Will third-party candidates get a lot of votes? I don’t know, but I can tell you this, if they can’t tell you where Aleppo is and what is happening there, it seems to indicate to me some of them are totally unprepared and never believed in the first place they had a chance, so they didn’t do their homework. This is not a proud time for Americans and the outcome of the selection could lead to a world war. I say this because we are prodding other countries all over the world so we can keep having enemies because this sells arms. We have created very dangerous times and are in places where we should never be and doing things we shouldn’t be doing.
