The United States Is Being Weakened
Our country is being weakened in so many ways it is hard to get a hold of all of them. Almost every area I look at seems to be manipulated. We are being weakened in our defense, weakened in our economy and weakened in our relations with other countries, just to name a few areas. Even the trust of our citizens in being weakened. I remember when I was a little sprout everyone I met felt their government was there to protect them and they were proud of it. How many people are proud of what is going on in Washington today? I venture to say there are a whole lot less. It seems there are many things happing in Washington which are important to us are happening behind closed doors. Bills are being signed late at night and lobbyists are writing many of our new laws. Either we were very naive when I was young or Washington has changed a lot.
We believed we had the best military in the world and I still believe we have the best people, but they are being handicapped with equipment which is obsolete. With all the new devastating missiles and torpedoes, along with silent subs our carriers cannot carry out the mission they were designed for, because they are easy targets. They can be overwhelmed by a barrage of missiles or blown out of the water using a silent diesel sub and a 200 mph torpedo or a wave skimming missile. The navy knows this, but insists on building more carriers which are so expensive they prevent the purchase of more useful ships and smaller carriers. There are all sorts of reports coming out about our new carrier planes such as the F-35, which complain about how inferior they are to the New Russian and Chinese planes and how they are so expensive the best model costs about one billion dollars for only three fighters. Are we mad? We are spending ourselves into oblivion and getting inferior weapons for the money. We allow the electrical grid to power everything and yet we know it is an easy target and if it goes down the country will be back in the Stone Age and millions will die.
Prescription drugs have become so prevalent in this country over 70 percent of Americans are on them, according to a study from 2013. One has only to look at the adverts on television to see how many different drugs are being advertised. Many people are questioning the use of all different types of drugs. Is it just a coincidence we are being told we must have cholesterol levels lowered. These supposed safe levels have been lowered a couple of times over the years and are at a point where almost everyone would need a cholesterol lowering drug. This is just what the drug companies love. Cholesterol medicine is the most prevalent drug in America. Drug companies will tell you heart disease has decreased because of the cholesterol medicine, but this completely ignores the fact smoking has decreased and blood pressure is being controlled better, so who knows the true cause? This country seems to be on far too much medicines and it is time the medicines were all evaluated by an impartial medical panel, if there is such a thing.
I was watching television news today and I listened as several senators and congressmen tried to convince us the Patriot Act is a good thing and very necessary. They even went as far to say not to worry about the gathering of telephone information because, get this, no messages are read and the NSA is only interested in the telephone numbers being used. Yeah and I have a bridge to sell you in Brooklyn. This is another indication of what the citizens of this country are thought of by their elected officials. They think we are stupid and will buy into whatever we are told. This has been evidenced many times in the past when we have been lied to. Let me give you one of the latest examples. The President said that since they were gathering telephone data in bulk it has allowed them to thwart 50 terrorist plots. Senator Patrick Leahy got the NSA to admit only 13 involved the US and when the NSA was questioned further they could only name ONE case and it involved a man in San Diego who was convicted of sending $8,500 to Somalia.
Strange things are happening in the US stock market. The market is reaching new highs, many times for no reason and when it goes down one would think gold would increase in value along with other precious metals and this doesn’t seem to be happening. One has to question what is really going on here and ask the question, “is the stock market being controlled somehow and are illegal operations taking place?”
When the media was not as controlled as it is now, many news articles came out about what was happening in the world. Today the media is controlled by just a few companies so we are not getting all the news, because the media in this country is reporting only what the government deems fit. Many times important stories which are carried by papers outside this country are not reported at all in our news media. This is the main reason people in the government are so unhappy with the news on the Internet. The Internet news channels are independent in a lot of cases and are printing news which doesn’t appear in the main stream media.
Suicide rates in the US for those between the ages of 35 years and 64 years rose almost 30% between 1999 and 2010, according to infowars.com. Why is this, could it be because it is much harder to get a job and support a family than it used to be? The numbers for those out of work have been played with so much they no longer reflect the true figure for those out of work. None of our elected officials wants us to know the true picture of unemployment, because it makes them look bad. First of all when the government counts the unemployed it only samples 60,000 households per month, it doesn’t count everyone. If a person got paid for any work during a week he or she is considered employed. In August of 2014 Forbes stated the real unemployment rate in this country was 12.6% not the 5.6% the government told us. These figures do not represent those individuals who had to take lower paying jobs, because they lost their jobs due to the down turn in the economy.
We need to repair the country. The first thing we have to do is stop throwing money away on corrupt government projects and rebuild our economy. We could increase the effectiveness of our armed forces by stopping the spending on huge super carriers and inferior weapons such as the F-35 and F-22. We could build some of the new diesel subs instead of the super expensive nuclear ones. The new diesels are almost undetectable, because they are so quiet and they can now remain submerged for weeks. We could+ establish a flat tax so everyone and every company pays their share of taxes which will help eliminate the deficit. We can improve some of our social programs. There is no reason we should be paying far more for Medicare and Medicaid than the equivalent in other countries and getting less for the money than they do. All sessions of congress should be open and recorded on video, but I know the politicians would hate this. The congress should not be able to exclude themselves when passing laws such as they did with the inside trader law. We need far more honesty in government and far less posturing. The country should come first even before the party.
