There have been plenty of stories about giants which were said to exist on earth. Giant bodies have been found in many parts of the world. I am not talking about isolated incidents, but groups of giant bodies being found in different areas. Along with these finds there has been a lot of talk about Nephilim. Nephilim were giants cited in the Book of Enoch. It is said they were created when angels had sex with human women. Scrolls were discovered about 60 years ago on the West Bank. The scrolls were thousands of years old. Guess what one of the scrolls was titled? It was the Book of Giants and was said to contain information on how the Nephilim were wiped out. It stated the Nephilim realized that had deviant behavior so they asked Enoch to talk to God on their behalf. They began to dream of water and floods, before the great flood came. The dreams overtook all the Nephilim and scared them. Enoch delivered a tablet from God to the Nephilim which essentially said they had done a lot of destruction to the earth and because of their sinful ways a flood would come. Many of the scrolls had been damaged so the story is incomplete.

Scientists are excited about 2.5 billion year old fossils of bacteria. Not only did this give them a picture of what these ancient bacteria looked like, but they made an unexpected discovery. They discovered there was no oxygen on the earth that far back in time. Maybe I should say there was a tiny amount of oxygen, because they found the oxygen content on earth was less than one-thousandth of one percent of what it is today. The bacteria were the oldest sulfur bacteria fossils found to date. These bacteria lived such a long time ago there were no trees or grass on the earth. Since I was talking about fossils I want to mention the fact a fossil was found in Greenland and it is 3.7 billion years old. These fossils showed evidence of structures created by microorganisms called stromatolites. When the fossil was examined closely a scientist came to the conclusion earth was already a place where life could exist. It would have been similar to Mars today.

Evidence of a dwarf Pterosaur has been found. Over 130 valid Pterosaur types exist. Most of these flying dinosaurs were very large. Some had wingspans of over 10 meters. This is what makes this discovery so unusual. The newly found dwarf Pterosaur fossils were only the size of an albatross. In other words these Pterosaurs were only the size of some modern birds. The fossils were found on Hornby Island, British Columbia. The bones of a Pterosaur were hollow, the same as the bones of modern birds.

Ancient artifacts are buried all over the world. This has spurred on the great search with metal detectors for these treasures, but of course not all artifacts are metal. Be that as it may, some ancient treasures were found off the coast of Israel. One of the artifacts was extremely rare. It was what many believe to the world’s oldest hand grenade. Hand grenades existed way before gun powder. During the Crusades hand grenades were in common use. The grenades contained burning liquids. The idea was to throw the grenades panicking the enemy troops before a charge. Not all archaeologists agree these objects are hand grenades, some think they could be perfume holders.

A tomb which resembles an Egyptian pyramid has been found in Kazakhstan. The tomb is believed to be over 3,000 years old. It is believed the tomb was built for a local king. It is said to look like the step pyramid of Djoser, but it is much smaller being only 6.6 feet high and about 49 feet wide. This tomb had been robbed, so if there were any valuable objects they are long gone. It does seem a little odd to me the pyramid would be so short. It is made from stone, earth and stone slabs. Archaeologists know there have been pyramids found all over the world, but most are hesitant to admit many seem older than the Egyptian ones, even though one has been dated back to 20,000 B.C.

Before man could make any progress on earth he had to learn to write, but some of the early languages are yet to be understood. The Egyptians had single hieroglyphs and later developed full sentence hieroglyphs. It is thought the first full sentence Egyptian hieroglyphs were created about 2740 B.C. The earliest form of Latin writing ever found appears on the Praeneste Fibula. This is a gold brooch which dates back to the 7th century B.C. The oldest form of Greek is known as Mycenaean Greek. It is also known as Linear B. Linear A is said to be an older syllabic script from where it was derived. Linear A has yet to be translated, but Linear B has. Many tablets containing Linear B were found on Crete and also in Mycenae and Pylos. Old Persia used a cuneiform script. The earliest example is said to be the Bisotoun inscription which is carved into a rock relief at Mount Bisotoun, in Iran. It dates back to 522 B.C. Another ancient language is Sumerian. A great example of this language is the Instruction of Shuruppak. Copies have been found which date back to 2,500 B.C. As incredible as it sounds, 11,000 stone tables were found in Ebla, Syria. They date back to about 3,000 B.C. and contain cuneiform which was said to have drawn heavily on Sumerian.

Archaeologists had made a surprise discovery while checking under a Mayan temple. The scientists have become concerned about underground anomalies they had detected near Mayan ruins at Palenque, Mexico. When they investigated the anomalies, but they found there were none, but there was an underground canal system under the temple. They think the temple was built over a spring on purpose so the water could be directed to the esplanade in front to give their dead ruler Pakai a route to the underworld. Perhaps you know about this temple. It is the temple which has the carving of what seems to be Pakai sitting in a spaceship powered by a rocket while wearing a spacesuit.
