Interesting Archaeology

As I have mentioned before, the structures found in Turkey known as Gobekli Tepi, are believed to be the oldest ever found and were dated as being at least 12,000 years old. To recap, there are many round structures with “T” shaped pillars which have carvings on them. Now for something I didn’t talk about before, some believe the carvings on the pillars tell a story. We don’t know how they could have been made with such hard rock and no tools we know of, and some believe the structures are much older and could date back to that magic year 20,000 years ago which I have talked about before. There is even more to this story as the structures were discovered in the 1990s, and yet this site is only about 10 percent excavated and some people are crying conspiracy. When I talk about the magic 20,000 year ago period, I am referring to a date some think the Sphinx was built and maybe the Great Pyramid. Also, the Bosnian pyramid which some deny exists had the material between the stones dated to this time, and even the Alaskan underground pyramid to which whistleblowers have referred to numerous times is said to be at least that old.

Many believe, in the past, if something which was found by an archaeologist which didn’t fit the timeline it was buried or put in a museum basement never to be seen again. The question I have to ask are dates which are far too conservative used in dating some ancient ruins? In truth I have to say probably most of the dates are correct, but there come times when I believe an archaeologist will set a much more recent date as the age of a structure or site to make it fit into the accepted human record and if this was not done, we would have a different view of human history. Another thing about dating is sometimes archaeologists can’t find a date for something and they guess. I am not an archaeologist, so not an expert in these things, but I would think it is much harder to date an underwater ancient ruin. Stone can’t be dated and the ocean bottom seems to always be changing. I would guess archaeologists try and date these ruins by comparing them to ruins where the dates are known.

It seems human habitation of some areas are getting pushed back in time. We have already changed some history in this respect. Scientists just found evidence that humans came to some Mediterranean Islands 2,000 years earlier than first thought. They have already said they believe humans got to North America earlier.

There seem to be a lot of pluses and minuses concerning artificial intelligence, but one of the pluses is it being taught how to read burned ancient scrolls and to that effect, Pompeii has dozens of them. Some have already been translated. There are dozens more waiting to be. Will we find out something about the Romans we don’t know like what a dodecahedron was for?

It turns out the people who built the pyramids may have gotten ill from copper poisoning. The area was studied and cores taken from the Nile River show massive contamination about the time all construction was going on. What does this show us? It shows us we were polluters even 5,000 years ago.

Sometimes unexpected things are found. They are unexpected because they are fragile and no one could have thought they could be found today. A hunting camp was found in France. It was very ancient dating back some 10,000 years. luckily, layers of dirt just keep covering the area so when scientists started to dig, the dig took them through several earlier centuries until they reached the camp. One thing is for sure, a lot of humans are interested in past human history.

One ancient artifact was recovered which I found very interesting. In ancient times ships were equipped with a battering ram on the front of them. When they would see an enemy ship, they would race to it and try and ram it to make it sink. A bronze ram was recovered off the coast of Sicily. One has to wonder if this ram had seen any action and sunk any enemy ships.

Scientists in Germany conducted research on human teeth dating between 47,000 years ago to 28,000 years ago and found DNA connections between them. The DNA between them, and the scientists had ideas about that and guessed maybe the original population died out and migrants replaced them.

It seems England is a treasure trove for archaeologists. Structures and sites seem to be found every time a shovel hits the dirt, construction workers were digging out a parking lot and found a royal grave with two burial chambers. This time Devon became the site of an archaeological find. It was a 4,000-year-old burial chamber. It is believed it will produce much more information about Bronze Age people.

While Roman archaeology is very popular, the forerunners of the Romans, the Etruscan civilization remains are commanding the interest of more archaeologists. An archaeological dig is being organized by Florida State University. It headed to Italy. Some results from a summer dig have excited the scientific community. One of them was the ruins of a building. Some coins and other objects have been found.

One thing seems to excite archaeologists the most and it is when they find a complete ancient structure. One structure, which was from the 3rd century B.C. was found by archaeologists in Bulgaria. It was a Thracian temple. A city administrator was so excited about the find, he wants to turn the area into an archaeological park.

I don’t recall if I mentioned this before, but archaeologists found an unknown chamber at the bottom of the Great Pyramid. I am amazed we keep finding out more about that object. There might even be more chambers we will find in the future.

Scotland is a small country with a population of about 5 million people, yet it pops up in the news quite often. The authorities were getting ready to build a prison when they found ancient postholes from prehistoric roundhouses. They also found objects which seem to indicate there was sword making going on there 3,000 years ago.

More digging in Turkey led to the discovery of a long-lost city from 6,000 years ago. The dig is taking place under Tarsus which has been inhabited the entire time and is one of the oldest cities in the world.
