Strange Aviation Events
There have been quite a few instances where people have disappeared without a trace on different types of transportation. This goes back hundreds of years when we talk about ships. I am not going to talk about ships, but things that fly. When we talk about balloonists you might think we are talking about hundreds of years ago, and we could be, but hot air balloons are still in use today.
The first case is that of a Cuban man named Matias Perez who flew several times in 1856 in a hot air balloon. As his balloon ascended into the sky, the conditions prevented people from seeing him at one point. It had become very overcast. Perez ran a canopy business, and was well known in Cuba. When he disappeared, he had taken off from Havana. A search was conducted, but no balloon wreckage or balloon was ever found. This may be hard to believe, but a report stated hot air balloons were very safe to fly in and much safer than driving in a car.
In the early decades of air travel many pilots wanted to be able to say they flew around the world, or at least made an extremely long flight for the time period. One pilot named Sir Charles Edward Kingsford Smith had made the first trans Pacific flight from the United States to Australia in 1928. He decided he would try and break the speed record for a flight from England to Australia. Smith and co-pilot Tommy Pethybridge never made it. Years later some people found a leg from the undercarriage of a plane and claimed it was his. It was found at Aye Island near what is today, Myanmar, but was Burma then.
Sometimes when people fly, there are even greater mysteries about their disappearances. Take the flight of a U.S. Navy blimp for example. The blimp, known as L-8 was sighted returning from a patrol in 1942. At first all seemed to be routine. Blimps were sometimes used to find submarines and enemy ships. The blimp had taken off from an artificial island in San Francisco Bay. The crew consisted of two officers. On its return the blimp crashed. When it was examined, no sign of the crew was ever found. The blimp became known as the ghost blimp. Did the crew get into a fight and fall off the blimp? Did the Japanese capture them and thought it funny to let the blimp continue back? I guess we will never know the answer.
There is a story about a plane which took off in 1955 and disappeared, only to land in 1992 with the passengers not knowing it was gone for 37 years. This was also the plot for a science fiction series and partially for a movie. It just sounds too incredible, but it is so interesting I will continue. The flight was Pan Am Flight 914 which landed in Caracas, Venezuela. The flight took off from New York and its destination was supposed to be Miami, Florida. As it took off the airport lost the plane’s signal, and for 37 years the plane had just disappeared. When it landed 37 years later the passengers thought it was the same year and they had landed in Florida. What happened, were they all captured by a UFO? When the plane disappeared, the authorities conducted a thorough investigation and found nothing and thought the plane must have crashed somewhere. Eventually the family members were told their relatives and friends on the flight had died. There is more to the story, on hearing what year it was, and where he had landed the pilot quickly took off again being chased by planes and flew to Miami and landed there, where the passengers were sent home. Even more freaky is the fact it was said the passengers never aged.
After retelling this incredible story, I have to tell you there is another incredible one involving a plane and missing time. The plane belonged to Santiago Airlines and was designated Flight 513. The plane took off from West Germany in 1954, heading to Alegre, Brazil. The flight then disappeared. For 35 years nothing was ever heard about the plane, and it was assumed it had crashed. In 1989 a plane was seen circling the Porto Alegre airport, without making contact. It landed, but all the passengers and crew were dead.
One had to wonder what high officials are told about these events when they take office. Do they know the rest of these two stories, such as what happened to cause the bizarre happenings? I have to equate things like this, if true, might have been the reason UFOs were being kept secret by the government all these years. There is a theory which states aliens punished us for originally shooting at them by attacking our commercial air lines. I have heard this several times and if it is true, the reason for these weird happenings happening to the two flights I mentioned, might have been because extraterrestrials were showing us how powerful they were.
Not to get off track, a mysterious plane panicked six different NATO countries. Both the Romanian Air Force and the Hungarian Air Force sent up a total of 16 fighter jets to intercept it and they found it was a Beechcraft. It even refueled quickly and took off again before authorities could stop it. I don’t understand why it wasn’t eventually shot down, but anyway it was finally forced down in Bulgaria, and landed, but the crew escaped before they could be captured. The engine was still warm when the authorities got to the plane. The plane had taken off from Lithuania. All this happened in June of 2022. I guess since the plane was a Beechcraft it was deemed not to be that dangerous and that is why it wasn’t shot down, but who knows?
There are 93,000 flights every day, worldwide. There are always between 8,000 to 13,000 planes in the air at any given time. These figures are amazing and show just how safe air travel is.
Now that I have talked about some of the mysteries involving aviation, I have to wonder what weird things happened which we do not know about? There is one instance we do know and it has to do with a military helicopter. The copter encountered a UFO and the UFO shined a green beam on it and the helicopter began to rise and the crew got very nervous and afraid it would go up beyond its range and fail. Just when it was getting near that point the beam went off and the crew got away.
